A family reunion over Thanksgiving in Monterey, California presented a wonderful opportunity to finally visit and photograph one of the country's most awe inspiring sites, Yosemite National Park.
Loaded down with photo gear, my family and I flew out to San Francisco and after two days sightseeing, and a morning in the Muir Woods National Monument just north of San Francisco, we headed east toward the Sierra Nevada's and Yosemite hoping for a autumn snowstorm to hold off long enough to get in and out of the park.

I have done a lot of traveling in an attempt to photograph eagles from Alaska to Washington to Canada to national parks.
However, I never expected to have an opportunity to make images of a nesting pair of bald eagles fifteen minutes from my home in Waco, Texas.
Not only was I blessed with such a wonderful occurrence, but also during the spring of 2009 I had the pleasure of sharing this incredible experience with my good friend, Brian Boyd.
During those months we logged over 100 miles of hiking which turned out to be advantageous to my health as well as an experience yielding many new images for my files.

Chipmunk, by Kelly Schultze.
Nikon D700, Nikkor 300mm F4 lens, f/4 at 1/1250 second, matrix metering mode.
ISO equivalent 1000, handheld.
After a few very good years for acorns our land in northern Vermont became inundated with chipmunks.
Their characteristic chirping could be heard most of the day and I started to keep my big lens permanently attached and ready to go.
I watched this chipmunk for a few minutes as he climbed a thin branch, pausing often to look for danger.
Nature's Love
Report
It is from love that we come.
When we connect with our higher power, with our God, we are joined in love, and we give to others with whom we share this planet through love.
Love is the emotion given by a mother to her young.
Love is joy found in everyday life.
Love is the essence of life. it is the light that illuminates our path.

You would think that age would bring degradation, not beauty.
The Spring issue of a mature NP proves the contrary.
My, oh my.
Have just gotten it from the mailbox and so have just had a chance to glance.
But it made me so excited that I wanted to write you anyway.
Looking forward especially to read the article on fawns.
We photographed them late in the last summer season at Big Meadows and immediately made reservations for this June at Big Meadows lodge-good thing too, because you have to book the prior summer.
