Christy Lonergan, owner of Happy Chick Photography, has been a professional portrait photographer in the Kansas City area specializing in baby, child, and family photography since 2004. From your child's newborn photos to their high school senior portraits, Christy's passion is capturing those special images you will treasure for a lifetime. The friendly and personal attention and patience is what makes all ages feel comfortable whether it's in a studio portrait session, or an on-location family session.
Amazing Maternity and New Family photo session experience! Growing up in Manhattan, KS, my father was a hobbyist photographer and I was his little assistant in the darkroom.
I was fascinated with it all from an early age and began learning more through my local 4-H group.
After having gone into the corporate world as a young adult, I soon realized I needed to follow my heart and get back to photography.
A honeymoon in Africa sealed the deal.
Once back home with my shiny new camera in hand that I had purchased for the trip, I took the leap of faith and started my own photography business (I had to pay off that camera somehow)!

Your maternity session is about feeling deeply at ease and letting go of any anxieties or judgement.
During your session, you'll find everything else falls away, except for a new and beautiful appreciation for yourself, and a lasting connection to the miracle of carrying a child.
Maternity photos are best done 4-6 weeks prior to your due date (but we can do them anytime you wish).
We also can book your newborn photos as well and have special pricing for our Belly and Baby Program.

Our studio is available for indoor photos and we have great outdoor spots with an urban setting just steps from our front door.
When you book a studio session, you have the option of doing both at no extra charge.
Unlike other photographers we do not charge extra for additional family members to be in the photos.
Why would we penalize you like that?
We love the size of your family and extended family are also welcome.

High School Senior

Centrally located in Kansas City in Columbus Park (near the downtown City Market area), we have access to lots of fun and funky outdoor urban scenes, all within walking distance of the studio.
Your senior portrait session can include both in studio, and photos outside the studio area for the same session fee price.
Don't trust this once-in-a-lifetime photo session to just any photographer!
We've get lots of requests to "fix" images that other, non-professional photographers take (aka "my friend's mom has a camera") and we do not do that.
